Sizing Guide
Our Chino carries the clarity of its design. Made with purpose, refined by time, and certain of its place in the American story. Manufactured in the USA, it endures and gains character with use.
The Chino has long stood as a symbol of practical refinement. Born from military necessity in the nineteenth century, its tightly woven cotton twill was first used by European soldiers stationed in the tropics. When American troops wore the same cloth during the Spanish–American War, they adopted the name given by Spanish suppliers, “pantalones chinos,” Chinese pants. The name and the cloth endured, a linguistic echo of global trade that would one day define American style.
When our soldiers returned home, they brought the trousers with them. What began as utilitarian military dress evolved into an American staple: neat enough for the office, sturdy enough for work, and simple enough for everyday life. By mid-century, chinos had become part of the American wardrobe vernacular, worn by students, tradesmen, and professionals alike. The style endures because of its balance: structured yet easy, formal yet relaxed, refined without pretense.
Our “609” Classic Fit Chino carries that legacy forward. Cut with a higher rise that sits just below the natural waist and full through the seat and leg, it creates a timeless shape that wears comfortably without excess. The fit allows it to be styled with equal ease, pressed under a sport coat or rolled at the cuff with worn-in boots.
Every construction detail balances longevity and craft. Chainstitch construction runs throughout, providing flexible seams that resist snapping under stress. Side-slash front pockets and double-welt back pockets with button closures form the traditional four-pocket layout, reinforced with bar tacks for strength. The extended waistband includes belt loops, an interior waist curtain, and secure front closures – a heavyweight YKK zipper, hidden interior button, metal hook and eye, and exterior button tab – for a clean, structured finish. A split waistband offers subtle flex and easy alteration, a classic mark of fine craftsmanship. A generous inlay of extra cloth through the seat and inseam allows for future tailoring, extending the life and fit of the garment over time.
Twill is defined by its diagonal weave, formed by passing the weft thread over and under multiple warp threads in sequence. This structure creates a fabric that is both strong and pliable, with a distinct texture that resists wrinkling and drapes naturally. Our fabric is a heavyweight 100% cotton twill woven by Brisbane Moss, a heritage British mill known for its quality and longevity. Substantial in weight and rich in texture, it softens with wear, developing character without losing shape.
More than a garment, these chinos embody a century of enduring design. Born from uniform tradition and refined for everyday wear, they remain honest, versatile, and distinct.
